PATRIOT
2011
There is something I find interesting about the routine of the mundane or the pedestrian, and a dependancy on simple repetition that you are compelled to repeat. The piece follows the idea of being locked into a physical routine or continuous rhythmical existence rather than singular movement repetitions. Within this existence, the individual’s ignorance is unassuming, and is proudly active in what he thinks he believes.
Winner of ‘Best Choreographic Direction’ ACT Festival, Bilbao.
Premiered at Cloud Dance Festival 2011.
Performance & Choreography: James Finnemore.
Music: Joel Harries
Lighting Design: Lawrie McLennan
Running time: 10 mins.

‘When James Finnemore dances he is spellbinding; fluid and loping, riffing on repetition and small un-dancey movements.’
